LUCELEC Cares about the Environment
We do our best to minimize our impact on the environment.
Environmental Safety
Increased environmental legislation and a need for utilities to be more environmentally responsible, means that environmental management is as a big an issue as tackling risks to people's health and safety.
Successful environmental management involves taking a systematic approach to identifying and reducing the risks that a utility like ours poses to the environment.
A few steps to this systematic approach are:
- Complying with local relevant environmental legislation
- Minimizing the risk to the public from it's operation
- Protecting the natural environment (environmental impact studies)
- Requiring contractors to meet the utility's standards as well as the local environmental legislation
- Minimizing emissions and wastes
- Regularly assessing the environmental impact of the utility's operation
- Periodically review utility's standards in keeping with environmental changes and reports on environmental accidents locally as well as internationally
LUCELEC is a leader in green energy initiatives in the country. We continue to pursue wind energy and in 2018 opened a 3MW solar farm in La Tourney, Vieux-Fort. A number of electric vehicle charging stations have also been installed across the country to ensure customers desirious of purchasing electric vehicles can do so knowing they can be powered anywhere, at anytime.
