Castries, March 07, 2026 – At 5:00 p.m. on March 06, 2026, Saint Lucia experienced an island wide power outage.

The outage was caused by the unexpected operation of a  protection system at LUCELEC’s Cul De Sac plant and resulted in a total shutdown of the electricity system.

Following investigations, power restoration commenced at 5:50 p.m. with supply progressively returning across the island. Restoration was completed at 9:10 p.m.

LUCELEC has initiated a detailed review of the event as part of its standard post-incident process.

Castries, February 17, 2026 – St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) has announced the appointment of Mr. Carryl Haynes to the position of Assistant Chief Engineer effective Thursday, January 1, 2026.

Mr. Haynes previously served as Generation Engineer – Maintenance in LUCELEC’s Generation Department. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the New York Institute of Technology.
