LUCELEC April Fuel Surcharge Adjusted Amid Rising Global Oil Prices

Castries, April 16, 2026 St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) advises its customers that there is a significant increase in the fuel surcharge applied to electricity bills for April 2026. This change is driven by current higher global oil prices affecting the cost of fuel used to generate electricity locally.

LUCELEC Continues Phased Electrical Relocation Work On Norbert Road

Castries, April 13, 2026St.  Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) continues the phased relocation of utility poles and related electrical infrastructure along Norbert Road. This follows ongoing discussions on the scope of the poles to be relocated between the company, officials within the Ministry of Infrastructure and the project contractor.

In the first phase, 17 utility poles and accompanying infrastructure including cables and transformers are to be relocated.

Statement on Island-Wide Power Outage

Castries, March 07, 2026At 5:00 p.m. on March 06, 2026, Saint Lucia experienced an island wide power outage.

The outage was caused by the unexpected operation of a  protection system at LUCELEC’s Cul De Sac plant and resulted in a total shutdown of the electricity system.

Following investigations, power restoration commenced at 5:50 p.m. with supply progressively returning across the island. Restoration was completed at 9:10 p.m.

LUCELEC has initiated a detailed review of the event as part of its standard post-incident process.
